What is Compagnie Fluviale du Mekong?

CFM is French/English owned company that was founded in 2000. When Toum Tiou, a colonial, boutique style 10 cabin boat first cruised on the river Mekong in 2002 it was the first cruise ship of its kind to do so.

Two programs were created with different durations. The first was from Siem Riep, Cambodia (the home of the magnificent world heritage site, Angkor Wat) to the vibrant, bustling city of Saigon in Vietnam. The second was a smaller trip, for those just looking to explore Cambodia, starting in Phnom Penh, the capital city of the country and finishing three days later in Siem Riep.

Due to the popularity of the boat, CFM started to expand its fleet and in 2007 the Lan Diep came into operation. Built in the same style as Tiom Tiou but with larger cabins and more space, the boat was chartered out by German company, Phoenix Reisen. In 2008, CFM enlarged its fleet further with the Indochine (24 cabins) and the Toum Tiou 2 (14 cabins). Both boats were developed with the same charm and character as Tiou Tiou and Lan Diep.

At present, the company currently owns 4 boats, employs 85 local people servicing 140 passengers. CFM is now a major company in Cambodia making a positive contribution to employment and the economy.
